Hello Happy Campers,
We are planning our 4th Annual Fall Camping Trip for 2024. Everyone in the community is welcome, and we’d love you to join. If you’ve never gone camping, let us know. We can help. Details are:
- When: Friday September 27 to Sunday September 29
- Where: Memorial Park in San Mateo County – https://parks.smcgov.org/memorial-park
This is the same place we’ve gone the last few years. It’s beautiful and only ~1 hour from San Francisco.
We usually arrive on Friday evening afterschool, get settled, feed the kids, and then families wander around meeting old and new friends.
On Saturday, we have the whole day to explore the camp ground which has redwood trees, a river to play in, and many hikes of varying difficulty.
On Saturday night, we’ll host a happy hour for the entire group. Details will be circulated during the trip.
And on Sunday morning, after breakfast, folks slowly packup and make their way back home.
Kids often bring their bikes and/or scooters. You’ll see lots of Dolores Huerta kids biking around the campground, especially to one of their favorite destinations, the camp store.
Here is a suggested Packing List. It has the basics of what most families will need for the weekend. Let us know if you need camping gear. We will try our hardest to find gear for everyone that needs it.
