Communications
Stay Connected With Our School and the PTA
The sections below describe various ways for families to stay connected with our school and to know what’s going on. Please take a minute and sign up for all the digital communications and stay informed.
SFUSD and Dolores Huerta Elementary use the contact information provided in ParentVue to send direct messages and announcements from the principal, school site, and district. This portal is also used to fill out required district forms. Make sure your contact information is updated to receive critical communications directly from the school and district via email, text, or both according to your settings.
The Dolores Huerta Elementary PTA and most of the classroom teachers also use Bloomz, a social media-style platform that is password protected and accessible only to our DH school community. This is a way to post announcements and send and receive direct messages from your classroom teacher, PTA, and other parents. Download Bloomz here and look out for instructions and access codes in direct communications from the PTA, school site, and your classroom teacher. If you haven’t received a Bloomz invitation or an access code from your teacher, or if you have any questions about Bloomz, please don’t hesitate to contact the Communications Team at: communications@wearedoloreshuerta.com.
Parents also manage grade-wide WhatsApp groups for each grade level. Look out for codes to join via direct communications.

Facebook Group and Page
We also have a Facebook Group where our community posts pictures, ideas, news, and anything else they’d like to share. Ask to join this group and say that you’re a Dolores Huerta parent.
Old School Communications
Occasionally, you will also receive information from your teacher “stuffed” into your child’s backpack. This includes things like field trip permission slips, sign-up forms, etc.
We also strive for each classroom to have at least one Room Rep, who coordinates classroom events and volunteer opportunities, disseminates information, and serves as the liaison between teacher and parents.
There are also a few bulletin boards outside the main office, where information is posted about the PTA, SSC, ELAC, extended care, and community events.
We also strategically place “sandwich boards” around the school for special announcements.
